The McDonough County United Way is proud to partner with 18 non-profit agencies serving McDonough County residents. Over 6,000 members of our community were touched by United Way funded programs last year. Donating to the United Way is one of the best way to invest in this community. Listed below are the United Way Partner Agencies and how they utilize their United Way funding in McDonough County. Advocacy Network for Children- Provides a safe, child-friendly place where child victims of abuse and their non-offending family meet with professionals for the purpose of investigation. Last year, 29 children in McDonough County received services from this agency.
American Red Cross- Provides disaster assistance to McDonough County families. Last year, 37 individuals received help from the Red Cross after disasters.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley- provides children with a WIU mentor, offering enriching programs to children in need. Last year, 72 children received services from this agency.
Catholic Charities- Provides reduced cost family counseling to McDonough County families with United Way funding. Last year, 205 members of this community utilized family counseling from Catholic Charities.
Early Beginnings- United Way funds are used to provide prenatal and childbirth education. Last year, 45 people received services from this agency.
Girl Scouts of Central Illinois- Offer McDonough County girls the scouting experience, teaching self-esteem and life skills. Last year, 433 girls in McDonough County benefitted from the Girl Scouts.
Illowa #133 Boy Scouts- Provide McDonough County boys with scouting experiences, teaching leadership skills and much more. Last year, 567 boys participated in Boy Scouts in McDonough County.
LaLeche League/Macomb- Provides support to breastfeeding mothers by offering support groups and literature. Last year, LaLeche League was able to provide information and/or support to 125 McDonough County residents.
McDonough County Senior Citizens- Provides 5 meal sites in McDonough County, in Macomb, Blandinsville, Colchester, Bushnell and Industry. Last year, 460 Seniors utilized these sites for meals and socialization.
PACT Headstart- Provides HeadStart and Early HeadStart programs to McDonough County families. Last year, 116 individuals received these services.
Prairie State Legal Services- Provides free legal assistance to low-income individuals and seniors. Last year, 144 McDonough County residents received assistance from Prairie State Legal Services.
Radio Information Services- Provides radios which broadcast local and national newspapers and other literature to the visually impaired. Last year, 129 individuals utilized these special radios in McDonough County.
Samaritan Well, Inc- Provides safe housing to homeless women and their children and men. Also provides case management to help their residents get back on their feet. Last year, 48 individuals received housing from the Samaritan Well, Inc.
Wee Care Center- Provides educational material and an extra staff person to children receiving their reduced cost services. Last year, 81 children utilized Wee Care Day Care Center.
Western Illinois Regional Council Food Pantry- Provides bags of food to hungry families. Last year, 2,068 McDonough County residents utilized the Food Pantry.
Western Illinois Regional Council Victim Services- Provides support to victims of domestic violence,including legal advocacy, support groups, 24-hour crisis intervention and more. Last year, 149 individuals were helped in McDonough County.
YMCA- Provides Youth Sports Programs, After School Programs at 5 sites in McDonough County and teen programming. Last year, 1270 children and adolescents received these services from the YMCA.
YMCA Senior Medical Assistance Program- Provides financial assistance for medications to seniors in need. Last year, 30 seniors received assistance for their medications through this program.
